SUMMARY:Building GES Neighborhoods Health & Resilience: Climate & Environment Summit
DESCRIPTION:At this kick-off event\, we hope to bring together over 30 residents from the Globeville\, Elyria\, and Swansea (GES) neighborhoods as community consultants to create a vision and climate action focus areas for GES. We will hold short presentations by community researchers and a discussion of existing resources and efforts through exhibitor booths by community organizations to provide needed background information. We will then facilitate a discussion around community visioning of a healthier\, more resilient neighborhood\, and identification of 4-6 priority areas\, which will be used as the basis of action planning. This is the first of three phases. The next two phases will involve climate action planning to reach neighborhood goals established by residents\, as well as peer sharing and resource exchange. Participants for the session need to be current GES residents\, 16 or older and participate for the full event. They will be compensated for their ideas and time. Doors open at 9:30am and the event is from 10am to 3pm on Saturday\, December 10\, 2022. \nEn este evento inicial\, esperamos juntar aproximadamente 30 residentes de los vecindarios de Globeville\, Elyria y Swansea (GES) como consultores comunitarios para crear una visión y áreas de acción relacionadas al cambio climático. Vamos a empezar la sesión con presentaciones breves por investigadores comunitarios y una discusión sobre recursos y esfuerzos que existen en GES a través de exposiciones por organizaciones comunitarias. Luego la sesión incluirá una discusión facilitada para crear una visión comunitaria de GES más resiliente y saludable\, y también para identificar 4-6 áreas de prioridad. Esta sesión es la primera de tres sesiones.
